Fairport Walks Off with Sectional Championship

Trabold wins it for Raiders after RH tied game in 7th
Fairport's powerhorse Conner Simonetti set it up, Dave Trabold sent everyone home with a 4-3 win. After Fairport and Rush-Henrietta battled throughout six and a half innings of baseball befitting a sectional championship, the two Red Raiders made the seventh look fairly simple.

Simonetti, Section V's career HR king, started the 7th with a triple into the gap in left-center. Trabold came up next and his drive found the gap in-between the first baseman and the right fielder, allowing Simonetti to score the winning run.

The loss was especially painful for R-H, the Royal Comets had tied the game 3-3 in the top of the 7th after an RBI double from Ryan Hancy and an RBI single from Paul Lasher. The Comets grabbed the game's first run in the opening inning before Fairport took a 2-1 lead in the fourth.

Fairport will now take on Victor in the state-tournament qualifier at 5:00 from Dwyer Stadium in Batavia.
