DECEMBER SNOW: Trace"
FRIDAY SUNRISE: 7:28 AM
FRIDAY SUNSET: 4:35 PM
It's a little slick in spots early this morning, especially to the south & east of Rochester on some secondary roads, parking lots & sidewalks early this morning thanks to the brief bout of snow & sleet late last night/early this morning. For most only a slushy coating to an inch fell, but in a few spots over the higher terrain across the Finger Lakes a little more than that fell. Now, though, most of the snow & sleet has moved out & much of today will be dry under a mostly cloudy sky. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30s & begin to fall a little later this afternoon as another little batch of snow moves in late today into tonight with yet another weak wave of low pressure scooting up along the stalled front to the south & east of us. Snowfall amounts will be light tonight, in the order of a coating to an inch or two for most, but a solid 1 to 3" appears to be likely over the Finger Lakes south & east of Rochester. With that said, roads will probably become somewhat snow covered & slick this evening so be careful if you are going to be out & about.
Other than a few snow showers & flurries on Saturday morning off Lake Ontario, it will be a quiet, cold weekend with some sun at times developing Saturday & some sun to start Sunday before it disappears later Sunday afternoon.
A little storm will move just to the west later Sunday night into Monday with a little snow developing Sunday night that will likely change to an icy mix late Sunday night & then should flip over to a little rain Monday morning before tapering off. Of course this forecast could still change depending on the storm track so stay tuned for updates through the weekend. After the little storm affects us Sunday night & Monday, much colder air will blow in for the middle of next week with significant lakes snows possibly developing for some too. Stay tuned.
TODAY: A period of light snow will develop late today or this evening.
TONIGHT: Brisk with some mainly light snow likely. About a coating to an inch or so is expected for most, including Rochester, but 1 to maybe 3" will fall in the Finger Lakes south and east of the Rochester area.
SATURDAY: Brisk with intervals of sun and scattered flurries.
SUNDAY: Cold and sun over to an increase in clouds for the afternoon.
