Geneva Wins Battle Of Unbeatens With ER/Gananda

Weird team TD for Panthers highlights 25-20 win
Jack Wallwork was standing in the shotgun in his own end zone.

The game was scoreless in the first quarter after Geneva had stopped ER/Gananda on downs at their own five.

Wallwork faked a handoff and found Kyle Cosentino streaking behind the defense at the 30. Consentino made the catch and took off for the end zone.

However, Nate Tieter was hustling for the Bombers. He caught Cosentino at about the ER/G 20 and separated him from the ball.

Tieter wasn't the only one hustling. Dytalion Dennis was doing the same for Geneva. He picked up the bouncing ball and completed a 98-yard score to give Geneva a 7-0 lead.

That TD was the highlight of a 25-20 win for Geneva in East Rochester Friday night. It was a battle of 3-0 teams.

ER/Gananda answered late in the half when Dylan Joy scored from nine yards out 12 seconds before halftime. The touchdown was set up by Joy's 40 yard punt return.

The Panthers scored the first two touchdowns of the second half to open a 19-7 lead. ER/G got within a score on two occasions, but the second came with only seconds remaining in the game.

Zach Hauser passed for 164 yards and two touchdowns in a losing effort for the Bombers.

Cosentino rushed for 73 yards and touchdown to go with his touchdown "assist" in the first quarter.
