Fitness expert Eugenia Richardson of Pilates Plus discussed the importance of good posture for a healthy spine Tuesday on News 8 at Sunrise.

Richardson said good posture, which includes standing and sitting upright with your shoulders back, can give you more energy and benefit your internal organs.  It also helps prevent potential back and neck pain.

Some exercises can help with strengthing the back muscles to promote good posture.  Richardson advised using small weights to gain strength and also recommended using a foam roller.  She said the foam roller can open you up and allow you to do small circles with your arms as an exercise as well.
