The third annual Hops for Hope 5K and Festival will be held Saturday at Mendon Ponds Park.

Registration for the walk and 5K run begins at 8:30 a.m.  The race will start at 10 a.m. with the Festival to follow from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Stewart Lodge.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the American Cancer Society's B. Thomas Golisano Hope Lodge/Hospitality House.

Hope Lodge volunteers Alyssa Belasco and Karl Lindemuth discussed the importance of the event Monday on News 8 at Noon.  "It's just a fun event for families, runners, walkers  - those that don't care to do either can just come to the festival and enjoy it," said Belasco.

Lindemuth attended last year's Hops for Hope and then signed on to be a volunteer at Hope Lodge.  "At the Lodge we are able to offer people a place to have hope and be at home," he said.

Hope Lodge opened in 2010 and has already served over 8,000 guests.
