Jingle Bell Run/Walk to benefit Arthritis Foundation

The Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis will be held Saturday, December 7 at Monroe Community College.
The Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis will be held Saturday, December 7 at Monroe Community College.

Michelle Vercruysse, Manager of Community Development for the Arthritis Foundation, and 13 year old Riley Taylor of Penfield, the Youth Honoree for Jingle Bell Run/Walk, discussed the event Monday on News 8 at Noon.

Taylor was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritits about five years ago.  The 8th grader takes medicine to help his condition and has stayed active playing football and lacrosse, among other activities.

Taylor is one of roughly 300,000 children who suffer from some form of arthritis.  In fact two-thirds of all arthritis sufferers are under the age of 65.  Proceeds from the Jingle Bell Run/Walk will go directly toward research to find a cure for arthritis.

Registration for the event opens at 8:30 a.m. at the Bill Grays Regional Iceplex at MCC's Brighton Campus.  The 5K run/walk will start at 10 a.m. and includes a kids fun run.  There will also be activities following the run/walk.
