Lauren's Law in Effect

Hopes to make it easier for people to register to donate organs.
Lauren's Law is now in effect. The law named for a downstate girl who got a heart transplant, aims to make it easier for people to register to donate their organs.

People who get their driver's licenses or renew their licenses will have to answer a question on whether they want to be part of the organ registry. It was previously optional. Only about one in five New Yorkers is registered, far below the national average.
