Medley Centre Developer Meets With COMIDA, Irondequoit Officials

Medley Centre developer Scott Congel met with local officials Friday.
Medley Centre developer Scott Congel met with local officials Friday.

Congel has been under fire recently after accusations he has been missing payments for the center. The meeting touched on issues like the demolition of three vacant building and the current condition of the Medley Centre. The East Irondequoit School District says it is okay for now because PILOT payments that fund a portion of its budget are on time and currently up-to-date. But there are worries. Some officials are questioning whether or not Congel has the means for the project. Irondequoit officials say residents are also frustrated.

"It is frustrating because that Medley Centre was such a beautiful asset to the town. Everyone enjoyed being there, and to see that property in decay is very difficult," Irondequoit Town Supervisor Mary Joyce D'Aurizio said.

Congel has denied repeated request for interviews and also avoided news camera following the meeting.
