Mia Foundation Helping Challenged Animals

The Mia Foundation takes in dozens of animals born with deformities with the goal of giving them a chance at a life.
The Mia Foundation takes in dozens of animals born with deformities with the goal of giving them a chance at a life.

The foundation was started in honor of Mia, the little clef palate chihuahua that stole the spotlight and the hearts of many. Since the foundation started two years ago, 70 animals have been welcomed in; many with cleft palates, some with missing limbs and some with other defects. Many of them require extensive surgery. But the work of the foundation, along with Sue Rodgers and her husbands, affords them a chance at life.

"After Mia passed away, Gary and I received thousands of emails and letters and flowers and cards from all over the world and I saw how many people that little dog touched," she said.
