Monroe County welcomed brand-new U.S. citizens from across the globe. Fourth and fifth grade students from the Hillel School sang "God Bless America" as County Clerk Cheryl Dinolfo administered the oath of allegiance to 46 new citizens. The ceremony was held at the County Office Building.

"I have the way to do things that I was not able to do before I was a citizen. So I just feel great," Alexander Hakizimana said.

"We welcome our new fellow citizens with open arms..and it really is what makes us great as the United States. To welcome people from all over the world to our country," Dinolfo said.

The new citizens come from more than 28 different countries.
