A vigil is being held for the 5th grader who passed away after getting trapped in a snow bank.

Cory Denoncourt, 10, was building a snow fort near his home on White Swan Drive Wednesday when it collapsed on top of him. Friends tried to dig him out, but Greece Police say Denoncourt stopped breathing and had to be resuscitated. He died at Strong Hospital Thursday.

"I heard it on Facebook, didn't want to believe it. People called my grandma and told her. I went to my house. Him and his brother came with me. We found out and just broke down," neighbors Kiswai Bennett and Tavon Granison said.

Denoncourt was a student at Craig Hill Elementary School. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
