New Sanctuary For Abandoned Horses In Spencerport

A new horse and rescue sanctuary opened in Spencerport, and through it a Pavilion man's dreams live on.
A new horse and rescue sanctuary opened in Spencerport, and through it a Pavilion man's dreams live on.

The farm in Spencerport is called "Do Over Acres." It takes in horse that have seen better days. It was the passion of Mike Dodge, who died in May. Mike finally let go, losing the fight to cancer, but not until he found a home for every one of the abandoned horses that he once took in. Marial Ophardt was touched by our story on Dodge and his wife Chris so much so she is carrying on Mike's passion at this new sanctuary.

"I heard on the television about Chris and Mike's story, and that they had the rescue going and that Mike was ill. And having fought cancer myself, it really hit home, and I decided to go and take some of the horses off of their hands; and help them train them and find them new homes," Ophardt said.

Now Marial continues to work with Chris Dodge on this new farm.
