A classroom Chemistry experiment left two students injured in New York City Thursday. At the Beacon School two students were engulfed in a fireball as a result of a reaction from the chemicals. Fire officials say the teacher added alcohol to the chemicals that ignited them, and believe she may have used too much by mistake. Both students were taken to the hospital. One is in serious condition while the other only has minor injuries. 

New York City's new mayor Bill De Blasio was on the other side of the podium Thursday. De Blasio publicly swore in his new police commissioner. William Bratton became the 42nd commissioner of the nation's largest police department. At the ceremony, Mayor De Blasio said he has tasked Commissioner Bratton with utilizing the best technology and tactics to focus on the city's biggest criminal problems.
