Nursing Home Residents Surprised With Holiday Gifts

Local nursing home residents got a very merry surprise Wednesday morning.

Residents at the Beikrich Nursing Home in Brockport were greeted with gifts. It is all thanks to the Brockport Auxilary Service Corporation, the non-profit that handles SUNY Brockport's support services. A team went door-to-door and gave each resident a gift and a carnation. Residents say it is wonderful to know people care.

"When you're in a home like this you often don't get visitors; although my family is very good and they come to see me. I'm blessed. It's good to know people I don't know come too," resident Ruth Langdon said.

"I think to know we are giving something back to a group in our community that is sometimes forgotten. The seniors that have given so much to our community and our country and their families. It's really important to all of our employees too make them feel special for the holidays," Executive Director Betty Drennen said.

The Brockport Auxilary Service Corporation helps students and takes part in community events throughout the year.
