Local officials are sympathizing with the County Executive in reaction to the news of her husband's arrest.

Maggie Brooks was eating lunch at a function at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center as her husband turned himself in. Bob Wiesner was arrested and charged in connection to the State Attorney General's investigation into the county's use of local development corporation. She did not want to talk to reporters. But News 8 talked to Rochester Mayor Tom Richards.

"I know Maggie and I know her husband. I met them both and I'm sorry about this. I don't know the truth of it or what happened or who got what but it's a sad thing no matter what," Richards said.

Democratic legislator Carrie Andrews also shared her sentiments.

"This is a terrible situation for our community. It's a very sad day for the County Executive and her husband and the residents of Monroe County. There is serious allegations of wrongdoing and if those are proven to be true, that will be very worrisome and troubling for everyone," she said.
