It's the second year for the fundraiser, which is a race/walk/family event to raise awareness and funds for melanoma research.
Carolyn Bell Gerstner of the Rochester Melanoma Action Group and Dr. Lesley Loss of the Dermatology Associates of Rochester discussed the event Monday on News 8 at Noon.
Bell Gerstner's father Tom Bell died of melanoma. She wants the event, which is unique in its focus on melanoma, to fuel needed research.
Last year's inaugural event raised $25,000 for melanoma research at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
Friday's fundraiser begins at 5:00 with the family-fun "Sunset Festival" and the race/walk will start at 7:00.
