Pittsford Hockey Falls One Goal Short

Suffern scores twice in third period to win state title 3-2
Pittsford scored just 12 seconds into their state final against Suffern today and had built a 2-0 lead.

But, they never scored again. .

Suffern scored two goals in the first four minutes of the third period to erase a 2-1 deficit and win the Division I State Title 3-2 over Pittsford at the Utica Memorial Aud Sunday afternoon.

Nino DiPasquale and Brad Sherman each scored in the first period to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead, but Suffern got a goal late in the period to cut that lead in half.

The score stayed the same until the third. Steve Scholer scored his second goal of the game less than 60 seconds into the period to tie the game at 2.

Less than three minutes later, Willie Sanchez stole the puck at his own blue line, made a beautiful move at the Pittsford blue and scored what proved to be the game winner.

It was still one of the best seasons in Pittsford Hockey history, qualifying for the state final for the first time since 1995.
