An arrest has been made in a September murder on the city's northwest side.

Omari McGuire, 21, now sits in the Monroe County Jail accused of fatally shooting Raheem Williams, 21, and injuring 38-year-old David Campbell. Rochester Police are crediting the community's help with his arrest.

"That is a result of community input helping us out on these cases throughout the year and this case is no different than the trend we've seen," Commander Tim List said.

The shooting happened on September 5th just after 5 p.m. Investigators allege McGuire had been on a bicycle when he opened fire. Police say Williams was McGuire's intended target. But they would not say how the two men knew each other. As for Campbell, they believe he was an innocent bystander caught in the violence. Prosecutors would not go into specifics about their evidence, but believe their case against McGuire is strong. McGuire's friends and family were present for his arraignment in Rochester City Court Wednesday. Williams' family was not at Wednesday's arraignment because his mother says police did not inform them of the court appearance.

"Raheem was well-loved and from what we know already is much missed," Assistant District Attorney David Dys said.

McGuire has pleaded not guilty to the charges. He is being held without bail.
