Ontario County Sheriff deputies have shut down the entire pier area on Canandaigua Lake in search for a body that may be in the water.

We got a look at the search from the water. Divers and police are searching for James Wesley, 63, who is a Canandaigua resident. The Canandaigua Police Department is working with the scuba team from the Ontario County Sherriff's Department. Twelve divers are at the lake. They have been searching since 9 a.m. Police say a friend of Mr. Wesley heard from him Thursday night. The missing person investigation started after an officer found some of Mr. Wesley's clothes and other personal belongings.

"This was initiated by a member of our office that saw some items on the south end of the pier that looked suspicious in nature so we initiated an investigation and have yet to locate the person that those items belong to," Canandaigua Police Sergeant Scott Kadien said.

At this point police say Mr. Wesley's disappearance does not appear to be suspicious. The search on the lake will wrap up around 6, but police are also following up on leads in the city. If you have any information about Mr. Wesley's whereabouts Call 911.
