Project Scion Transforming Vacant Lot

The corner of Dewey and Ravine won't look the same once this nonprofit is done.
Project Scion is under way at the corner of Dewey and Ravine avenues. The vacant lot will soon be transformed into a park that will have a small lending library.

Zaretsky and Associations and Waterford Tilling are donating materials and coordinating the effort. Volunteers and neighborhood residents are installing the park, which will function as a town square, garden and play area. It will be called "The Gateway."

The group is leasing the land from the city for $1.

Project Scion tackled another lot last summer at Jay and Child streets. It is called "The Orchard."

The organizers were guests on News 8 First at 4. You can see their interview in the link above.
