Rochester Youth Shop with a Cop

25 kids shopped with a Rochester Police Officer, Tuesday.
Rochester, NY--Some local kids got to do a little holiday shopping, Tuesday night.
It was part of the annual "Shop with a Cop," event.
25 kids from the city recreation centers teamed up with 25 Rochester Police officers to hit the stores at the Mall at Greece Ridge.
The children received gift cards to go towards their Christmas shopping.
Officers said the program is fun for the kids, but also allows the kids to see cops in a positive situation.

"This is one of the funnest things we do because the kids are so excited, obviously it's Christmas time," said Rochester Police Sgt. Justin Collins. "It gives the kids a chance to go Christmas shopping, some of which wouldn't have that chance. And, obviously their paired with us. So, it really adds for an interesting dynamic. Kids get to work with cops and see cops in a different light."

Chief Jim Sheppard started the Christmas "Shop with a Cop" program three years ago through the police activities league.
