The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra will open its new season Thursday, September 26 in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre.

RPO Board Chair Dawn Lipson and RPO musician Anna Steltenpohl, who plays the oboe and English horn, discussed the upcoming season Monday on News 8 at Noon.

The season opening celebration will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Magic Crystal Spiegeltent at the corner of Main St. and Gibbs St. across from the theatre, followed by Opening Weekend: Mahler's First Symphony in Kodak Hall at 8 p.m.  A pre-concert talk, included in the ticket price, begins at 7 p.m. in Kodak Hall.  Tickets start at $22, with $10 student tickets available, and may be purchased at the Eastman Theatre Box Office, all Wegmans stores, by phone at (585) 454-2100, or online, click here.

As the search for a new Music Director continues, this season will provide audiences with the rare opportunity to see guest conductors at each performance.  In addition, Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik will celebrate his 20th season with the RPO.

The orchestra will also perform at the Spring for Music Festival next May at Carnegie Hall.
