The fall scouting membership drive is underway for boys and their families across the Rochester region.

Stephen Hoitt, Scout Executive/CEO, Seneca Waterways Council of the Boys Scouts of America, discussed the programs and opportunities available through scouting Tuesday on News 8 at Noon.

Programs are available to kids of all different ages.  Boys in grades 1-5 can participate in Cub Scouts.  Boys ages 11-18 can participate in Boy Scouts.  There's also co-ed programs for boys and girls ages 14-20.  Venturing offers them the chance to learn through adventures like whitewater rafting and rock climbing.  Exploring offers them hands-on career exploration.

Hoitt said parents who sign their boys up for scouting can expect their child to experience learning development through fun and adventure.  In addition, they will enjoy quality time with their child through unit activities, camp activities and community service projects.
