SOTA combines Shakespeare and Dr. Seuss

Rochester's School of the Arts will present "The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet & A Midsummer Night's Dream" this weekend.
Rochester's School of the Arts will present "The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet & A Midsummer Night's Dream" this weekend.

Director Lorie Dewey and SOTA 9th grader Alannah Scardino discussed the production Wednesday on News 8 at Noon.

The performance will combine elements of Dr. Seuss' style with the writing of William Shakespeare.  It is a whimsical take on the tragic love story of "Romeo and Juliet" without the tragedy, and a fun twist on the "A Midsummer Night's Dream" comedy.

Scardino will play Helena in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and said she is looking forward to the opportunity to be on stage and play someone else.

Performances times are as follows:

Friday, January 10 - 7 p.m.
Saturday, January 11 - 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Sunday, January 12 - 5 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at the SOTA Box Office an hour before each show.  Advance tickets are available online, click here.
