Suspect Arrested In Genesee Street Homicide

Police arrest 18 year old Dante Rankin last night in connection with the shooting death of another teen.
Rochester Police have arrested a city teen for shooting and killing another teen on Genesee Street.

Dante Rankin, 18, was arrested Tuesday night in the city of Rochester. He is accused of fatally wounding Kemari Hodricks, 19, just after 2 p.m, Monday. Hodricks was standing on Genesee Street near Hawley Street, when police say a car pulled up and fired shots. Hodricks was hit in the torso and was taken to Strong Hospital where he later died. Police Chief Jim Sheppard says he's proud of the community for stepping up and helping with Rankin's arrest. Rankin and Hodricks apparently knew each other and there had previously been an argument before the shooting Monday.
Police aren't looking for anyone else at this time.

We're told Dante Rankin is a RCSD student in the New Beginnings program.
