The Knights scored the final seven points of the game after falling behind by five in the second OT. Allie Panara's steal and layup with 48 seconds left got Sutherland within a point.
The Eagles wasted a huge night from Jen Reininger, who scored back to back buckets in the final minute of the first overtime to tie the game at 47 and force a second extra session. Reininger and Kylee Kenealy each made layups to start the second overtime and put Irondequoit ahead 52-47, but the Eagles did not score again.
Reininger finished with a game high 17 points.
Abby Judd led Sutherland with 15 points, including a short jumper that gave Sutherland a 47-43 lead with just under a minute to play in the first overtime.
The game was, on the whole, a war. Both teams played suffocating defense and often over the length of the floor. The lead was never more than three for the entirety of the second half and the first overtime.
Liz Greendyke added 11 points for Sutherland while Santita Ebangwese was huge underneath with 12 points and 21 rebounds--16 of which after halftime.
Kenealy finished with 13 points for the Eagles and Savannah Crocetti had nine, including a pair of clutch second half three-pointers.
Sutherland remained perfect this season at 11-0 while Irondequoit fell to 9-3. Sadly, there will be no rematch. This was the only scheduled regular season meeting and the schools will be in different classes for the postseason.
