Testing Protest Planned

State education Commissioner John King will be in Rochester Wednesday. He will be greeted by parents and students protesting the culture of testing.
Parents and teachers plan to protest outside School of the Arts on Wednesday at 1 p.m. to greet State Education Commissioner John King.

King is visiting the Rochester area Wednesday, but his spokesman has not given a specific schedule or media availability.

The protest will target standardized testing. Tests given in April were the first based on the Common Core standards and scores fell 30 percent. Less than a third of the state's students passed.
