Update: Teen Bicyclist Hit by Car Dies

the teen hit by a car Friday night in Greece dies has died from his injuries.
A teenage male bicyclist hit by a car in Greece died shortly after 11:00 p.m. Friday.

The accident took place on West Ridge Road at Fetzner Road around 7:30 p.m. when Chris Saunders,15, was traveling northbound ans was struck by a motor vehicle attempting to cross the intersection.

The victim was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with critical injuries and was later pronounced dead.

No charges are pending in relation to the accident.

Saunders was previously a student a Greece Arcadia and currently attending Boces.

The Greece Central School District and Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES Program released an official statement regarding Saunders:

"The Greece Central School District and Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES are mourning the death of a student. Chris Saunders was struck by a car on Friday, Oct. 4 while attempting to cross Ridge Road on his bicycle. Chris formerly attended Apollo and Arcadia middle schools and most recently attended a Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES program.

Staff members at Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES say they will always remember Chris’ smile and his kindness toward his friends and fellow students."

Our thoughts and prayers are with Chris’ family. The Greece Central School District and Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES will provide counseling and support to students and staff on Monday.
