The Canandaigua VA Medical Center is trying to get the word out to veterans about job opportunities and health services available to them. There will be two veterans job and health fairs coming up in the next Month.
Veterans coming home face a number of challenges and the VA wants them to know they are ready to help them find work and provide health care services for them.
Kai Chitaphong works at the Canandaigua VA. "There's two things we want to do and that's have veterans come out and be matched with a job. And talk to potential employers and employers who are interested in hiring veterans. There's a lot of great reasons to hire veterans."
Chitaphong adds "We want veterans to come and talk to potential employers. And the other piece is we have healthcare providers and enrollment people that are going to be there to enroll them if they have not already been enrolled in VA services."
Here's the information about the upcoming veterans job and health fairs.
The first is may 18th at the Canandaigua Medical Center, Building 5 Auditorium from 9 to 4.
The second is June 9th at the Rochester VA Outpatient Clinic from 8 to 3.
The VA is also reaching out to employers who want to hire veterans. For information on participating in the Veterans Job Fair, or for assistance from the VA in any matter related to hiring veterans call Jennifer Nalley at (585) 463-2722 or click here.
