Woman With Cancer Organizes Bone Marrow Drive

Woman With Cancer Organizes Bone Marrow Drive

The event is Tuesday in Spencerport.
There will be a bone marrow drive Tuesday afternoon for a local woman with cancer.

Deb Moyer has Myelodysplastic Syndrome, known as MDS. Her bone marrow does not make enough healthy blood cells and there are abnormal cells in her blood. She will need a bone marrow transplant.

Moyer is lucky because two of her brothers are a match. But she says not everyone is so lucky. From her bed at Wilmot Cancer Center, Moyer organized a bone marrow drive.

The event is Tuesday, October 29 at Cosgrove Middle School from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Donors get their cheeks swabbed. They must be 18 to 44 years old and in general good health. There will be entertainment at the event.
