Hazmat crews are continuing cleanup efforts after a chemical spill at a Xerox building in Webster.

It happened Friday afternoon at Building 218, which is Xerox's photo-receptor plant. A company spokesman says employees were moving barrels of chemicals when a single 55-gallon barrel of monochlorobenzine was spilled. The chemical is a level 2 health hazard, making it an eye and skin irritant. About 100 employees work in that building. They all were sent home for the day so crews can fumigate and clean up the building.
